NGC 3161 is the brightest galaxy in a small group of galaxies in Leo Minor. A moderately large and bright galaxy, NGC 3161 is readily visible as a spherical nebulous patch in an 8" telescope. Several other galaxies in the field are brighter than 14th magnitude and make good challenges for medium sized telescopes.
