Comet 290P/Jager is a new periodic comet discovered in 1998. The period is a little over 15 years, and during the discovery return it reached around 10th magnitude.
The 2013/14 return was not quite a favourable one, however the comet was still expected to reach around 12th magnitude and be well placed for northern hemisphere observers.
