The 2009 return was very favourable, with the comet reaching around magnitude 8 during June. It was also very favourably placed for the southern hemisphere, being located south of the celestial equator and at a large elongation from the Sun. Unfortunately with some many other projects to undertake, I was only able to spare the time to image it twice. On June 7. On that night the comet displayed a small but bright, well condensed coma and a short, faint tail, about 6 arc minutes long in PA 253.
