Comet 19P Borrelly
2001 Return

The 2001/2002 return of comet Borrelly was not particularly favourable. The comet peaked at around only magnitude 9.6 during late August-early September.

I first observed the comet on June 18. The comet was already at magnitude 13.4 and displayed a faint tail. Unfortunately my opportunities for further observations were curtailed until the end of August, as a result of moving from Australia to the USA. After that, weather, teaching committments and a switch to concentrating more on asteroid photometry, gprevented more observations apart from a single observation in March 2002.
