NGC 1929

Combination of 6, 3 minute exposures, Meade 416XTE CCD.
8" f/6 newtonian at prime focus.

NGC 1929 is a small open star cluster, that belongs to the Large Magellanic Cloud. Surrounding the cluster is a large expanse of nebulosity, which is also very easily observed with an 8" telescope. Each of the brighter knots has an NGC designation. These are NGC 1934, top right, 1935, centre, 1936 centre left, and 1937, top left. In the lower left cornor is another patch of nebulosity. This is IC 2128. It is difficult in an 8" telescope, but fairly easy in a 12".
