NGC 188 is a large and moderately bright open clusters in Cepheus, only about 4 degrees south of Polaris. In appearence, it is not unlike a very weak globular cluster, appearing fairly circular, as in the image above. It is also one of the oldest of the open clusters as deduced from its Hertzprung-Russel diagram.
