Comet 177P/ Barnard

2006 saw the recovery of the long-lost Comet Barnard. Although the comet was quite bright, prior observing commitments restricted me to just two nights during August, 2004. On these nights, the comet was about magnitude 12, with a well-condensed central condensation and a large, diffuse outer coma. The coma was elongated in one direction, as though is were the start of a faint tail.
