NGC 1763


Combination of 20, 3 minute exposures with an H-alpha filter.
SBIG ST-8XE CCD. 300mm f/6 newtonian at prime focus.

NGC 1763 is part of a small emission nebula with an embedded open star cluster, that belongs to the Large Magellanic Cloud. NGC 1763 is the portion of the nebula that surrounds the cluster, while just to the left is NGC 1769. The small patch of nebulosity to the upper left is NGC 1773 and the faint protion near the bottom is NGC 1761. All of the nebulosity is very easy seen in an 8" telescope.
