NGC 147 is a challenging elliptical galaxy in Casseopeia. Although the total magnitude is about 9.5, the galaxy is quite large, resulting in a low surface brightness which makes it a difficult object for smaller telescopes unless the skies are dark. The galaxy is a distant companion to M31.
