NGC 1365 is a large and bright galaxy in Fornax. It is a member of the Fornax galaxy cluster, which straddles the border between Eridanus and Fornax. NGC 1365 is one of the best galaxies in the southern sky for observing spiral arms. The arms of this galaxy are visible in an 8" telescope.

The centre of the Fornax cluster is at the upper left of the image. In this region it is possible to fit 9 bright galaxies in a 1 degree field. In the image below, several of the galaxies are indicated with the details in the table below.
