NGC 1052

Combination of 5, 3 minute images unfiltered.
SBIG STL-1001E CCD. 20" f/6.8 Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope at prime focus.

NGC 1052 is the brightest of a trio of galaxies visible in the same field in the constellation Cetus. The other galaxies are the lenticular NGC 1047 (magnitude 13.5) visible to the upper right of NGC 1052, and the beautiful face-on spiral NGC 1046 (magnitude 11.0). Just outside the field of view to the right (west) is another moderately bright galaxy, the 12.9 magnitude NGC 1035. The seperation between NGC 1035 and NGC 1052 is about 25', so all with fit in a wide-field eyepiece.
