Comet 2007 W1

Comet 2007 W1 became moderately bright during early 2008, reaching around 13th magnitude.

Combination of 5, 3 minute images, SBIG STL-1001E CCD.
16" f/10 schmidt-cassegrain at prime focus.

The same image as above, but combined using a median filter.

Once past perihelion the comet faded quickly and by the end of October it was below 17th magnitude.
