Comet 2001 BB50 LINEAR-NEAT

Comet 2001 BB50 LINEAR-NEAT was a very faint comet that was visible during early 2001. It was always below 16th magnitude and as a result there were few magnitude estimates reported.

During June 2001, the comet passed through a region containing numerous faint galaxies. These are shown in the image below, where the two images have been aligned on the stars rather than the comet as in the image above.
