Course Assessment for General Physics I

1) Please comment on the aspects of the course that were beneficial, that helped you learn. Be explicit.

2) It is often hard to apply concepts learned in class to questions asked in different situations (homework, for example). Would you attend a session (outside of class) on problem solving? Would you attend a session on the process of problem solving once a week?

3) In your work outside of class, did you read the Readings? Did you work the Exercises? The course is designed so that the Readings and Exercises worked outside of class, in addition to work done in class, combine to help you learn and learn to apply physics concepts in different situations. Did the Readings and Exercises help you do this? Explain.

4) Did you use a text to help you? Would you like to have a text? What if the text were different from a standard text? Would you like a text that was written for this particular class (to go along with lab)? Explain.

5) Please comment on working in a group. Did it help you learn? Did you work well with your group? Did you work with more than one group during the semester? (Comment on all groups you worked with, if you worked with more than one group.)

6) What recommendations do you have about how this course might change or stay the same? Clearly state what we might do differently and what should remain the same.

7) Please comment on exams and quizzes. Did they test your ability to apply what you had learned in a different situation or context? Comment on the group problem, on problems that required equipment and on the fact that you were allowed to use equipment and written materials.
