The Golden Spread Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society
fosters the science and the art of soil, water and related natural
resource management to achieve sustainability. As a chapter, we are
devoted to the wise use and conservation of our soil, water, air, plant,
and animal resources and we will be making special awards at the High
Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair to encourage interest in
these areas by students in the 6th through 8th grades. We will judge
projects related specifically to the conservation of soils, water, air,
plants, and animals for grades 6th through 8th and will make three
awards. All awards will include a trophy and a cash prize. First place
will receive $50, second place $30 and third place $20. Please encourage
your students in these areas and make sure you notify Mrs. Sandy Hancock
or Ms.Rita McDaniel of your intention to submit projects for judging for
these awards. We look forward to visiting with your students and
encouraging them in their efforts.
