Outreach and Service |
The department is active in our community and supports outreach services such as the Circus Physicus that presents death-defying acts of physics interesting to children of all ages, including: the giant bowling ball pendulum of doom; the Mark II bed-o-nails; marshmallows in space; exploding grain elevators; the incredible rotating professor; liquid nitrogen vapors; Tesla's revenge; and many more. The circus is performed by Tom Gibson, Wally Glab, David Lamp, and Sarah Stubbs together with interested student volunteers. The department also provides support and volunteers for worthy activities such as Science Day, local Science Fairs, and especially, the South Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair that occurs each spring on the Texas Tech Campus.
