B.J. MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT SOLICITS CONTRIBUTIONS

A Billy Jack Marshall Memorial Scholarship Endowment has been established. Details were discussed in the last newsletter. Jack Randorff, our 1997 Distinguished Alumnus, is heading the fund-raising effort. In his words, "All students who were fortunate to have known Dr. Marshall will agree that he instilled in each of us a sense of pride and respect for our chosen profession. Whether to a basic lecture class student or to one of his select group of graduate students, he always delivered his undivided time and attention in a manner which was both clear and instructive. To others outside his immediate research group he also gave of his time and shared the resources and materials from his laboratory. Every former student whose life was touched in some way by Dr. Marshall will surely want to contribute." It takes at least $5,000 to establish a permanent endowed scholarship. A goal is to have the Marshall Endowment exceed this in the near future! Please send your tax deductible donations to Department of Physics, Texas Tech University, Box 41051, Lubbock, TX 79409-1051. Checks should be payable to the Physics Department. The memo line should state "B.J. Marshall Endowment".
