Emmanuel Nenghabi, my PhD student, passed away unexpectedly following an illness on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. A permanent Memorial Webpage is under construction.
Until it is complete, I have created a downloadable Word document, which covers essentially what I said orally when I was privileged to have been asked by his family to give a eulogy to him at his funeral. It also contains a concise list of his published journal articles he and I have together and it also contains a list of the oral presentations of our work that he made to American Physical Society meetings. That document is Here.
Monday, March 16, 2009, we were scheduled to give back-to-back oral presentations on Emmanuel's research at the March American Physical Society Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA. Emmanuel would have given Paper 1, "Effects of Silicon on the Electronic Properties of the Clathrates A8Ga16SixGe30-x (A= Ba, Sr)" (see abstract on the meeting website Here) and I would have given Paper 2, "Effects of Silicon on the Vibrational and Thermal Properties of the Clathrates A8Ga16SixGe30-x (A= Ba, Sr)" (see abstract on the meeting website Here). With the gracious permission of the Session Chair, I gave both presentations. I also preceeded the technical talks with a brief personal tribute to Emmanuel, which outlined his life and his research on clathrate semiconductors. The Power Point Files for these presentations are available on the following links:
